Saint-Saëns: Carnival of the Animals Classic Tee
Saint-Saëns wrote The Carnival of the Animals in 1886 as a private joke, then refused to let it be published in his lifetime, worried it would damage his standing as a serious composer. The one exception was "The Swan". The rest appeared in 1922, after his death. Among the animals: pianists, practising scales, and fossils that quote his own Danse macabre.
