Charles Ives: Variations on "America" Classic Tee
Charles Ives wrote his Variations on "America" for organ in 1891, at seventeen, and put in interludes in two keys at once, decades before that was fashionable. It sat unpublished until 1948, when the organist E. Power Biggs recorded it, and William Schuman orchestrated it in 1962. It is the national hymn with a practical joke attached.
