Ballett 71: Staatstheater Kassel Classic Tee
The bill on this one reads like a dare: two pieces by Krzysztof Penderecki, then Allen Ginsberg's Das Geheul, the German title of Howl, with music by Ray King, staged in 1971 in a theater's Kleines Haus, its smaller stage. Howl had survived an American obscenity trial in 1957. Penderecki was busy making string sections shriek. Just your average night at the ballet.
