Penderecki: Abstract Classic Tee
Penderecki wrote his piece for 52 strings in 1960 and called it 8'37", a bare running time. After hearing it performed he dedicated it to the victims of Hiroshima. Kubrick used it in The Shining, and Cuarón in Children of Men. The design is abstract, which suits a composer whose scores sometimes look like drawings.
