f. simandl: new method bass classic tee
Franz Simandl1840 – 1912
Franz Simandl's New Method for the Double Bass, first published in 1881, is still the book most classical bassists start with. Simandl taught at the Vienna Conservatory from 1869 to 1910 and played principal bass at the court opera. His fingering system uses the first, second and fourth fingers, and most bassists learned it whether they wanted to or not.
