The shirt is a convention badge for the 1983 annual meeting, and 1983 gave the attendees plenty to argue about. The compact disc reached Europe and North America that March, after launching in Japan in October 1982. Somewhere in the hall, someone was explaining why vinyl would outlast it. On this point, they have had a good run.

how to measure

first things first: grab a shirt you already love the fit of, a measuring tape, and a flat surface. lay the shirt flat, smooth it out, and compare its measurements to the chart.

length: from the highest point of the shoulder, where it meets the collar, straight down to the hem.
chest: straight across the shirt, 1" below the armholes, from side seam to side seam. it's measured flat, so double it to compare with your own chest.
sleeve: from the center back of the neck, over the shoulder point, to the end of the sleeve (to the end of the cuff on sweatshirts).

All measurements are of the garment laid flat, from our spec sheet. Allow a little tolerance either way.
