The line is from the Isley Brothers' Shout, recorded at RCA Victor's New York studio in July 1959, where the producers reportedly had the band invite friends in so the session would feel like a party. Most of the song is a dynamics lesson: a little bit softer, then a little bit louder, repeated until everyone's hoarse. It is the only conducting most crowds will follow.

first things first: grab a shirt you already love the fit of, a measuring tape, and a flat surface. lay the shirt flat, smooth it out, and compare its measurements to the chart.

length: from the highest point of the shoulder, where it meets the collar, straight down to the hem.
chest: straight across the shirt, 1" below the armholes, from side seam to side seam. it's measured flat, so double it to compare with your own chest.
sleeve: from the center back of the neck, over the shoulder point, to the end of the sleeve (to the end of the cuff on sweatshirts).

All measurements are of the garment laid flat, from our spec sheet. Allow a little tolerance either way.
