Igor Stravinsky1882 – 1971

The piece opens with a lone bassoon pushed into an unusually high register, playing a melody inspired by Lithuanian folk music. Pierre Monteux conducted the 1913 premiere in Paris. Bassoonists still remember it, and probably so do the people who were in the seats. 12 oz cotton canvas, which will not start a riot.
