The poster is a 1936 Federal Art Project design by Ben Kaplan, announcing a senior amateur music contest on the Mall in Central Park at 8:15 on the evening of September 29. Several versions were made for different contests that year. It now lives at the Library of Congress, which is where good municipal announcements go to be loved.

how to measure

first things first: grab a shirt you already love the fit of, a measuring tape, and a flat surface. lay the shirt flat, smooth it out, and compare its measurements to the chart.

length: from the highest point of the shoulder, where it meets the collar, straight down to the hem.
chest: straight across the shirt, 1" below the armholes, from side seam to side seam. it's measured flat, so double it to compare with your own chest.
sleeve: from the center back of the neck, over the shoulder point, to the end of the sleeve (to the end of the cuff on sweatshirts).

All measurements are of the garment laid flat, from our spec sheet. Allow a little tolerance either way.
